The mission of the Friends of the St. Thomas Public Libraries is to preserve and strengthen library services and create awareness and appreciation of the importance of the public libraries.
The Friends stand as supporters of the staff and management currently serving the public at the new Charles W. Turnbull Regional Library.
Our outreach programs at the clinics, in the wards of the hospital, community, and senior centers are designed to show the community’s need for library services outside of the normal library atmosphere. The former “Free Bookshelves” program has evolved into a bookmobile that makes its way across the island to enrich various communities.
We are also advocating strongly for expanding the hours of operation of the new library that would increase accessibility to the larger community.
Our motto: Raising visibility of our libraries to the community!
