KWANZAA365, an organization which seeks to prompt participants to adopt the Seven Principles in everyday life, is hosting a series of activities including a program hosted by perennial Kwanzaa ambassadors Akinyemi and Mariel Blake at the Enid M. Baa Public Library on Monday, December 28, 2009.

Kwanzaa is celebrated annually from December 26 through January 1 in an effort to encourage the application of principles to benefit individuals, families, and communities all year ’round. The commemoration concentrates on the Nguzu Saba (Seven Principles) and the giving of time, service, the fruits of the land and handcrafted gifts.

The Seven Principles of Kwanzaa are Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination). Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity) and Imani (Faith).
