The St. Thomas/St. John Library Association (STSJLA) has posted its collection of photos from the first Virgin Islands Human Library on its web site.  The Human Library was presented as part of the kickoff to National Library Week (April 11-17, 2010) and it was hosted on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Herman E. Moore Golf Course at the University of the Virgin Islands St. Thomas Campus. In conjunction with Read on the Green, the Friends of St. Thomas Public Libraries (FOSTPL) and the Enid M. Baa Public Library staff presented storytelling, face painting, sold re-purposed books, and provided access to the Book Mobile.

VI Source online news reporter Molly Morris made her way to the annual Read on the Green on Saturday, April 10, 2010 to check out the activities. Members of the Friends of St. Thomas Public Libraries (FOSTPL) were on hand to support the staff of the Enid M. Baa Public Libraries and the St. Thomas/St. John Library Association to kick off National Library Week which begins April 11, 2010.  The Human Library provided a way for attendees to glimpse the lives of those not normally understood in the community, a first for the territory.

FOSTPL members provided storytelling, face painting, and refreshments; the Book Depot was accessed to provide a variety of used (re-purposed) books for sale in support of the organization’s activities throughout the year.
