At one time the Friends of the St. Thomas Public Libraries (FOSTPL) operated a Free Bookshelves program, collecting books and storing them at our depot at Fortress Self Storage after collecting them from designated areas around the island. With the institution of the Division of Libraries, Archives & Museums’ Book Mobile initiative, we are happy to see communities take advantage of a free and simple method of borrowing and enjoying books, applying for library cards, and the great service offered by the staff.

While we have discontinued the book redistribution program, we do know of a few Free Bookshelves that still operate in an informal fashion and will share them here. If you have books to donate, please contact each individual business or outlet for hours and any requirements.

To donate books to the Charles W. Turnbull Regional Library contact Ms. Chinnery (before you stop by with your books) at 340-774-0630 for guidelines.
